The D740 utilizes a solid-state mildly heated sensor designed to be highly sensitive to a safe mixture of 5 %- H 2 / 9 5 % - N2 (Forming gas) Tracer Gas*.
The SAE J2970 certified D740 is specifically designed for mobile air conditioning applications to detect leaks using H2/N2 tracer gas equivalent to 4 g/yr (Hi setting) and 7g/yr (Norm setting) of R-134a. Detection at this level occurs while the probe is moving at a rate of 3 inches/second in compliance with the SAE Standard.
The unique digital display allows for quick and precise pinpointing of the leak source and it indicates the relative size of the system leak. The instrument is CE Certified, and is housed in a rugged ABS high impact plastic case. It does not require rechargeable batteries and is powered by four AA alkaline disposable batteries.
*This low GWP gas mixture is in agreement with current EU legislation and the leadership of the US EPA.
